Many of the small communities in Hawkes Bay and Gisborne are being reached slowly but surely and in so many different ways. The Puketapu locals in the Hawkes Bay were really delighted when not only did McFall Fuel turn up but also the Police Reassurance Unit in the same place on Saturday. “I want to express my gratitude to the Company and especially the driver for delivering the free fuel on Saturday to those of us at Puketapu South. Much appreciated,” said a lifestyle block owner. Hawkes Bay Driver Ricky Rush and the Police calmly dealt with the queue for the free fuel being filled into 20 and 40 litre containers cautiously. Each person was entitled to 40 litres. The Hastings District Council along with Hawkes Bay Civil Defence and McFall Fuel worked closely together to achieve this for the community which have been cut off and without many of the basics.
