The NZ Saloon Grand Prix held in Huntly, prior to the fast-approaching storm, saw a field of fast competitors and some great racing. Trent was extremely pleased with his two heats qualifying in 1st position for the Feature Final of 25 laps.
“It was a race of thinking, and persevering due to the lap traffic and the track that was now an "ice rink" making the car harder to handle and keep smooth on the track. We went from Green to lap 20 before our first caution of the race came on. We had pulled a half a lap lead and passed nearly half the field by that time. Once we were green again for the last 5 laps we still managed to pull another 2 second lead and set the fastest lap of the night,” said Trent. “It was so great to be on the podium again, this time on the top step.” Such a proud moment for Trent and the Team.
The next meeting is March 11 at Gisborne for the North Island Saloon Champs. The Team may be racing on the March 5 in Stratford but this has not been confirmed yet due to weather postponements.
